Mental focus is at the top of the list. Not being fully hydrated can cause us to lose focus on important details, overeat, and cause feelings of tiredness. Drinking one 8-ounce glass of water for every hour you are working or studying can help keep you hydrated and your mental focus on point.

Here are a few tips to ensure you are hydrating appropriately to get benefits from the fluids you are consuming.

  • The basic guideline is to drink at least eight, 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Try filling a pitcher on the counter with your fluid intake goal for the day.
  • The beverage you are consuming should not contain caffeine or alcohol.
  • If you consume beverages containing these items, you should drink an equivalent amount of non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverages to make up for the effects of dehydration these fluids cause.
