Are you someone who has a running list of tasks to get completed? Do you get one thing checked off your list and add five more? Do you start one item and get sidetracked and start another item on your list?

The key to getting things checked off the list is to focus and use your time wisely, focus on the task at hand, and then move on to the next.  One quick tip for focusing on your to-do list is to set a timer. Setting a timer for twenty minutes can help you stay focused. Use this time to place all of your attention on the task at hand; perhaps it is a work deadline, cleaning a room, or helping your child with homework. Do this task for the allotted time, then take a designated five-minute break. For example, make a cup of coffee, get some fresh air, or check out social media to clear your head. Once your break time is over, set the timer again for another twenty minutes.

This habit can work in both your work life and your personal life. Being productive for bursts of time, then scheduling a quick break can boost your productivity time, ultimately getting more items crossed off your list and freeing up time for fun!
