In the morning rush, sometimes breakfast falls off the schedule. Reconsider this routine because the drive to save time can slow you down physically and mentally.

Coffee kickstarts the day for many people, but it’s no substitute for the long-lasting energy and nutrients that food gives you. Adults and children who eat breakfast have more fiber, calcium, vitamins A and C, riboflavin, zinc, and iron than those who avoid this meal. Clearly, the nutrient-rich foods like oatmeal, avocado toast, and fresh fruit that populate most breakfast tables do great things for your body.

Plus, breakfast is good for the mind. Hunger impairs several thought processes. Studies have shown that eating breakfast improves memory, concentration. problem-solving skills, and mood. Office work and schoolwork are easier to complete when these tools are sharp. Breakfast is literally food for thought.

Don’t fill up on sugar bombs. Most lack fiber, calcium, and other nutrients and provide short-lived energy. Plan and prepare a nutritious breakfast the night before. This way, you have more time in the morning to consume the meal, not prepare it.

If you can’t plan or prepare a meal, make a fruit or vegetable smoothie or keep fruit, cheese, bread, salmon, and other nutritious items on hand. Create a mobile meal with at least two macronutrients: fat, protein, or carbohydrates.

Breakfast fills up your mental and physical fuel tanks. Just like your car, you’ll perform best with the right fuel.
