Carpenters always say, “Use the right tools for the job.” This philosophy is also true for cooking. Meal prep is so easy when you use the appropriate device. Likewise, when cooking is not a chore, you are more likely to whip up fresh and delicious meals.

In addition to tongs, a whisk, a large spoon and slotted spoon, and a spatula, here’s a list of essentials that every kitchen should have:

  • A knife set. It should include a chef’s knife, a paring knife, a bread knife, scissors, and a knife sharpener. A sharp knife is the best weapon against cutting yourself.
  • Dry Scan your favorite recipes to find popular amounts of ingredients like sugar and flour, and make sure your set includes them.
  • Food processor. Choose a machine that can tackle your chopping without stressing you out when it comes to cleaning it or learning how to use it.
  • Non-stick cookware. Today’s pans are coated in materials that are non-toxic and dishwasher-safe.
  • Cast iron pan. These workhorse skillets come in a range of weights. A lightweight pan doesn’t mean it can’t handle the stovetop and oven heat.

Of course, there are more devices and appliances available for the kitchen. These are a good base for a cook at any skill level.
