This private day school’s enrollment is 480 students (grades 9 – 12) and 90 faculty and administration. Serving breakfast, snack, and lunch five days a week the school operates ten months a year (42 weeks) providing summers off. The Chef Manager will assume responsibility for the oversight and direction of the school’s dining service operations to include student, faculty, and staff satisfaction as well as the achievement of client financial objectives.
This unique situation requires a candidate with previous experience in college dining or comparable private high school setting. The candidate for this highly visible position will possess professional presentation skills and be an excellent communicator,, as they will have daily interaction with the students and faculty at all meal periods. It is key that the hired individual develop dining programs to engage the students with forward-looking menus that acknowledge current trends in food and nutrition. Further, successful candidates should have a foundation of working culinary expertise, strong catering management skills, and a history of leading culinary and management teams to success. Lastly, strong organizational skills are paramount as he/she will assume responsibility for the execution of multiple events such as alumni, fundraising and homecoming dinners, graduations, faculty lunches and meetings, and departmental caterings regularly.

- 5-7 years experience in private school/college dining or similar venue
Hospitality Degree, Catering Management or Certifications preferred
ServSafe® and Allergen Awareness certifications required
Form positive relationship with client, faculty, and students to meet organizational and financial goals.
Organize and direct all dining hall activities, catering and special events
Management and administration of the unit to include budget adherence, purchasing, invoicing, payroll, inventory, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain a sustainability program.
Keep a clean and safe work environment and follow all outlined health and safety regulations concerning food handling, equipment use, and personal hygiene.
- Staffing activities include coaching, counseling, training, hiring, and firing.
