 The Chef Manager will assume responsibility for the oversight and direction of a small private school’s lunch service operations, including purchasing, receiving, menu execution, employee development, payroll management, and reporting. The site, located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island has 300 students grades Pre-K thru 12 and 75 faculty and administration.  The Chef Manager must be upbeat, flexible, and be willing to adapt to last minute changes and pop up events.

 The candidate for this highly visible position will possess professional presentation skills and be an excellent communicator, as they will have daily interaction with the students and faculty at all meal periods.  Further, successful candidates should have a foundation of working culinary expertise and a history of leading culinary and management teams to success.  Lastly, strong organizational skills are paramount as the Chef Manager will assume responsibility for the scheduling and execution of multiple events such as fundraising dinners, faculty lunches and meetings, and departmental caterings regularly.

Qualifications

  • Culinary and/or Hospitality Management degree preferred, not required

  • 5+ years experience as a Chef Manager in private school education or similar venue

  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • ServSafe® and Allergen Awareness certifications required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, sanitation and safety

  • Manage unit to meet company and client financial goals

  • Management and administration of the unit to include budget adherence, purchasing, invoicing, payroll, inventory, and reporting.

  • Develop menus for cafeteria service and catering
